Mada Carol Reed passed away Sunday, October 1, 2023, in Jacksboro, Texas. She was 78 years old.
Carol was born at St. Joseph Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas on May 11, 1945, the second of 5 children to Harvey Wilkins King Jr. and Made Lavina (Pope) King.
Carol married her husband and the love of her life, Robert Terry Reed on April 10, 1964, in Weatherford, TX. Together they built a wonderful life and raised their two sons, Robert and Tim. Along the way, Carol nurtured and helped raise many of her nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Carol graduated from Fort Worth Technical High School on May 28, 1963, as an Honor Graduate with a Special Degree in Business. The day after she graduated, she went to work for Commercial Standard Insurance Co. as a code insurance claim typist. She continued her professional career into the field of law where she worked as a legal secretary for many Fort Worth Attorneys and eventually for the Law Offices of Richard Ward where she remained for almost 21 years as his legal secretary. Carol was a faithful member of the Jacksboro Church of Christ.
Carol was the epitome of a selfless person and touched the lives of everyone that knew her. She was a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her grandchildren affectionately referred to her as "Nanie" and as unique as the name was the woman. She enjoyed Nature, especially her and Terry's Jacksboro Ranch, and was grateful that she was able to live out her retired life there in her own "paradise" as she said. She was always cooking meals and doing for others, thoughtful in all of the little ways that get missed in the hustle of life. She was always there willing to help, lend her wisdom, or calm a worried mind. She never missed a birthday and was famous for her fudge chocolate cake.
Those left behind to cherish her memory include her husband, Terry Reed; children Robert Reed and wife Brenda of Weatherford & Tim Reed and wife Amanda of Boyd; Grandchildren: Danielle Reed Griffin and husband Adam of Boyd, Ryan Reed and wife Katka of Fort Worth, Taylor Reed Gates and husband Dalton of Weatherford and Rachel Reed of Weatherford; Great Grandchildren Reed and Ava Griffin; Sister Nancy Johnson of Decatur; along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Preceded in Death by Her parents, Harvey and Mada King, sister Bonny King, and Brothers Harvey James and Richard King.
