He was born in Manti October 27, 1913 the first child of Edward S. and Bertha R Carlson. He left behind a rich heritage and precious memories for his family.
He grew up in Manti where he learned responsibility and hard work at an early age. He graduated Manti High School during the depression. He married his childhood sweetheart on June 6, 1934 in the Manti LDS temple. They were blessed with four children. He moved his family to Spanish Fork in 1951 where he and his two brothers, Clair and Vernon, operated the Spanish Fork Mill and developed and enterprising turkey operation for 25 years. He was always active in church, serving in many capacities including bishop and on two High Coucils.
He survived by his devoted wife Lenore R. Carlson; their children: Sheryl (Glade) Barney of West Jordan (currently serving in the California, Sacramento mission) Reid (Elaine) Carlson of Mapleton; Jan (Alan) Newman of Ely, Nevada; Dale (Bea) Carlson of West Valley City. He also leaves behind 14 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren; brothers Clair (Esther) Carlson and Vernon (Betty) Carlson of Spanish Fork, a sister Beulah (Ivan) Vorhees of Salt Lake. He was preceeded in death by his parents, a younger brother Carl; a granddaughter Ruth Newman. The viewing will be 6-8 pm on Thursday February 25th at the Walker Mortuary, 187 N Main Street in Spanish Fork and one hour prior to services on Friday at the church. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. on Friday February 26th at the Spanish Fork second ward LDS chapel, 98 South Main Street; Intermet will be at the Manti City Cemetary.
