This is a memorial for Samuel B. R. Culbertson. Except for Julia A. Nonemaker's 1907 obituary, where it indicated; Samuel "proceeded her to the great beyond about thirty years ago", there is no record of his death or burial.

I currently believed Samuel died between March 1879 and June 1880 in Newton Township, Trumbull County, Ohio. Most everyone indicated his death in 1880. I am currently still researching his death with local records.

Samuel was born in 1848 to William Holmes Culbertson and his first wife, Susanna Hench, in the Sandy Hill area of Madison Township, Perry County, Pennsylvania.

Samuel first married Catherine Elizabeth Saylor in 1869. Catherine and her Saylor family were neighbors of the Culbertson family. Samuel and Catherine had a son, William Edward Culbertson, who was born May 4th 1870. Samuel abandon his wife and child, and on December 19th 1871 Samuel married Mary Sophia Nearon (Hildebrandt), a widow with a daughter, living in Middlesex Township, Cumberland County. On September 12th 1873, their son, William Culbertson, was born.

Soon after Samuel and Mary parted ways, and sometime during 1874 Samuel married Julia Nonemaker from Three Springs, Clay Township, Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania. They immediately moved to Alliance, Stark County, Ohio. In Alliance their first child, Mary Janetta Culbertson, was born September 23rd 1875, and their second child too, Joseph Samuel Culbertson, who was born December 7th 1879.

When the June 12th 1880 federal census record was taken, Julia was living 41 miles south west of Alliance in Newton Township, Trumbull County, Ohio. She was identified as a visitor in the home of David and Elizabeth Bricky. Julia's children were 5-year-old Mary, and 6-month-old Joseph.

Soon after June 1880, Julia left Ohio, and returned to Three Springs, Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania. While there she married George Montgomery, and in September 9th 1882, her son, James Harry Mongomery, was born in Three Springs, Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania.

By 1900 Julia was identified as a widow, working as a servant in the home of John McKnight Campbell in the Neelyton area of Dublin Township, Huntingdon County. Beginning in 1906 Julia began to become ill from Brights disease. She succumbed to the illness on April 17th 1907 while living near Neelyton, Dublin Township, Huntingdon County.
