NORTHUMBERLAND — Jonas Christopher Thomas, 58, of 334 Hollow Road, died Monday morning, July 23, 2007, at his home.
He was born May 19, 1949, in Mifflinburg, a son of the late Jacob T., Sr., and Miriam. C. (Dobson)Thomas.
Mr. Thomas was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in the Army and receiving a Bronze Star.
He was retired from the Postal Service after 20 years.
He was a member of the National Rifle Association and the Buffalo Valley Sportsmen's Club.
Jonas was an avid hunter.
He is survived by one son, Christopher Thomas, and one daughter, Rebecca Thomas, both of Northumberland; two grandchildren, Anthony and Gavin Thomas; one brother, Jacob Thomas Jr. of White Deer; and two sisters, Geraldine Dershem and Mary Dershem, both of New Columbia.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald and Robert Thomas, and two sisters, Judith Baker and Mazie Thomas.
Friends and relatives will be received from 1 to 2 PM Thursday at the Shaw Funeral Home, 400 N. Front Street. Milton, where the funeral will be conducted at 2 with Chaplain Robert D. Barner officiating.
Interment with military honors will be made in Mazeppa Cemetery.
