Steve Vernon Ballard, age 82 of Talihina, Oklahoma passed away from this life on September 24th, 2023. Steve was born on July 3rd, 1941 in Johns Valley, Oklahoma to Willie Dean (Harrison) and Clyde Ballard. Upon graduating high school, Steve proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam and Korean War era. After working as a mechanic on U.S. Army vehicles, he later moved up to a Drill Sergeant. He later retired from the service and moved to Tuskahoma where he enjoyed hunting, fishing (especially bass tournaments), and picking on the waitress's at the K-Country in Clayton. Steve always had a smile and a friendly face for anyone he met. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. Steve will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Steve is survived by his daughter, Patricia Smith of Indianola, OK; daughter, Suzanne Mock of Kansas; daughter, Linda Marie of Arkansas; three grandchildren, Shanna and TJ Nooner of Canadian; Ethan and Rachel Smith of Richardson, TX, and Seth Bolte of Indianola; three great grandchildren, Maci Kate Smith, River Lois Nooner, and Finley James Nooner all of Canadian, OK; as well as numerous extended family and friends.

Steve is preceded in passing by his parents and sister.

Visitation will be on Sunday, October 1st, 2023 from 2:00PM to 4:00PM at McCarn Funeral Chapel in Clayton, Oklahoma.

Pallbearers will be Ethan Smith, Odus Scarberry, Kevin Scarberry, John Iorga, Gary Cox, Dustin Roberts
Honorary Pallbearers are Marion Wilkinson, Tom Ballard, and Seth Bolte.

Graveside services will be on Monday, October 2nd, 2023 at 11:00AM at A L Stephens Cemetery in Clayton, Oklahoma with Bro. Gary Fuller officiating. Services have been entrusted to McCarn Funeral Service.
