W G Chenault's Father Dies

Final rites were conducted at Concord Cemetery Wednesday afternoon for Mr. M W Chenault, 84, who passed away at his home in Houston Tuesday night. The services were conducted by the Rev. W C Stewart, pastor of the Houston Baptist Church, of which Mr. Chenault was a member, assited by Rev. W J Dawson, pastor of the the Houston Methodist Church, and Rev. H M Collins, pastor of the Van Vleet Baptist Church.

A native of Bloutsville, Alabama, Mr. Chenault moved to Chickasaw County with his parents when a small child and, with the exception of a few years spent in Arkansas, spent the remainder of his life in the county. He served as constable in District one for 12 years.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Nannie Peden Chenault, three sons, Grady, of Okolona; Jack, Houston; Maynard, Tupelo; two daughters, Miss Attie Chenault and Miss Edna Chenault, Houston, and three grandchildren.

Funeral Services For M W Chenault Held at Concord

Funeral rites for M W Chenault, who died at his home here Tuesday night, were held yesterday afternoon at the Concord Cemetery. He was 84.

Officiating was the Rev. W C Stewart, pastor of the Baptist Church, assisted by the Rev. W J Dawson, pastor of the Methodist Church and the Rev. H M Collins, of Van Vleet.

Active pallbearers were John Davis, J L Ricks, Lee Horn, Leonard Martin, Dock Gordon, and Chester Helms.

Born in Blountsville, Ala., August 16, 1855, Mr. Chenault was son of William and Nancy Watson Chenault. His family moved to this county when he was a child. With exception of a few years spent in Arkansas when a young man, he lived in this county the remainder of his life.

In childhood he joined the Baptist Church at Center Hill, moving his membership to Houston In 1920. He was married in 1890 to Miss Nannie Peden. To this union six children were born, five of whom survive.

Mr. Chenault served for 12 years as constable of Beat One. He was known to his friends and acquaintances as a man of quiet and gentle manner.

He had been in ill health for several years and had been confined to his home for the past six weeks.

Surviving are his wife; three sons, Jack, of Houston; Grady, of Okolona; and Maynard, of Tupelo; two daughters, Misses Attie and Edna, of Houston; and three grandchildren.
