James E. Barr, 35, Native of Wichita, Dies After Illness,

James Edward Barr, 35, of 1406 Woodrow, died Monday night at Wesley Hospital after a short illness.

He was an estimator for Eby Construction Co. and the son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Barr, Washington, D. C. His father, assistant U.S. postmaster general, formerly was a vice president of Kansas Gas & Electric Co. here. Mr. and Mrs. Barr were expected to arrive Tuesday in Wichita.

Mr. Barr was born April 25, 1924, in Wichita. He graduated from North High School and Kansas State University. He was an Army veteran of World War II. After his graduation from K-State, he was in the lumber business with Kechi Lumber Co. and later owned Mulvane Lumber Co. He had been with Eby Construction Co. for two years.

He was a member of First Church of Christ, Scientist, Wichita, and a member of the Mother Church, Boston, Mass.

Survivors include his wife, Jo, his parents, and a brother, Thomas, Chicago, Ill.

Cochran Mortuary will announce funeral arrangements.
