George was the eldest child of Luke Lee and Pauline Alexander born in Marshall, Texas, on August 1, 1933. His father obtained a job with Humble Oil Company where George grew up in Humble Oil camps. He lived in Talco, Cedar Bayou, and Grand Saline, before residing in the Texas Oil Camp of New London, TX. He lived there from sixth grade until he graduated from New London High School in 1952. He played football for the New London Wildcats from 1949-51. He also threw newspapers for the Dallas Morning News and the Fort Worth Star Telegram during his high school years. He went to Kilgore College in the fall of 1952, then decided to join the US Air Force in the Spring of 1953. He went through basic training in San Antonio at Lackland Air Force base and upon completion, was sent to Florida, Washington DC, and then overseas to Frankfurt, Germany (1954-56). He returned to New London in December,1956. He had stayed in contact with Molene Henderson during his time in the service and after a brief courtship, they were married on January 26, 1957.

The new couple moved to Brownwood, Texas to attend Howard Payne College. He earned a BA degree in History and Bible in 1960. He was ordained as a Southern Baptist minister in 1960. They moved to Fort Worth, Texas where George began seminary at Southwestern Theological Seminary, but after one semester he decided to get a job in Fort Worth. After one year, he was offered a job in Oklahoma City by Floors Incorporated. He moved his family to Oklahoma, where they bought a home in Norman. While the family lived in Norman for 2 years, they attended Trinity Baptist Church. They then purchased a new home in south Oklahoma City in which they lived from 1965-2011. George started his own janitorial maintenance company in 1974, George Company, where his motto was "If it's done by George, by George it's done". He sold his company in 1986 and went to work for Putnam City Schools as Director of Buildings and Grounds, where he retired in 1995. At home he enjoyed gardening and woodworking, eventually building a wood shop in his back yard. He enjoyed golfing with his church friends as well. While in OKC, he and his family attended Capitol Hill Baptist Church (1965-67), Southwood Baptist Church (1968-99), and then Southern Hills Baptist Church (1999-2010). In 2011, George and Molene moved to Texas to spend their remaining years in the North Dallas area.
