They later in life would have good times recalling how tough times were growing up.

Theresa remarried when Elaine was about ten. Norman and James joined the armed forces during World War II. James ended up in Iwo Jima and gave his life for his comrades' winning the Medal of Honor. This was a time that effected the close knit family for the rest of their lives. James was not only a national hero, but he was also their personal hero. He made them all stronger and prouder as a family and individuals.

Elaine was in her sister's wedding and started a relationship that lasted 66 years. She gave birth to her four children. They brought her love, pride, and had a giving nature, to make them people she not only loved but also people she liked.

She worked outside the home to give the family things that they would not be able to afford. Elaine loved to fish. She found the love for fishing in a boat with Uncle George. He would take her out and one time, they were out so long she got a bad sunburn. Uncle Gorge caught heck from the oldest sister Virginia, but it wouldn't stop him from taking her out on the lake. In her later years she worked with her sisters in a nursing home. One was the cook, two like Elaine were in housekeeping. They would take care of the clients like family. They worked hard but had fun together on the job.

She loved baking and making the best poppy seed bread, cookies, and baked goods ever. The holidays were made special. She would decorate to the point it was like entering the gingerbread house, Easter was would have bunnies everywhere and Halloween was a day that made you happy to visit and show off your costume for her and Dad.
