Earl Bostwick, Age 85, of Augusta, MI, died Monday morning, May 22, 2012, at Bronson Methodist Hospital, Kalamazoo, MI, following a lengthy illness. Earl, the son of Glaydon C. and Grace (Perrin) Bostwick, was born on January 29, 1927 on the family farm in Ross Township.

He graduated from W.K. Kellogg Agricultural School of Hickory Corners in 1945 and also, took some courses from Michigan State Agricultural College. Earl was a lifetime resident and farmer in Augusta with the G.C. Bostwick & Son Company, dealing with livestock and produce. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1950 and while in basic training, his father lost his hand in a farming accident; being the only son, Earl returned to the farm to maintain the family business and continued right up to his death. He was a member of the

Northeastern Baptist Church of Kalamazoo, a former Deacon of the Church and was active with its home visitation registration. Earl helped establish the Augusta Bible Baptist Church; was a member of the Barbershop Chorus-Battle Creek Chapter; had been active and a past leader in 4-H and served on the W.K. Kellogg School Board during its consolidation with the Richland School System, which became the Gull Lake School System. He enjoyed leading the singing in whatever Church he was attending for the past 60 years, but he was best known for his friendly outreach to visitors or new members.

On October 13, 1950, in Plainwell, MI, Earl was united in marriage to the former, Margaret L. Afman.

Surviving is his wife of 61 years, Margaret; his daughter, Dawn (David) Wendzel of Richland, MI; his four sons, David (Betty) Bostwick of Smyrna, GA, Douglas Bostwick of Augusta, MI, Dean (Ruth) Bostwick of Hickory Corners, MI and Dwight (Laurie) Bostwick of Faribault, MN; by his special, adopted Malaysian daughter, May Lai Loo and her husband, Eng Chong Lim and children, Eugene and Maggi of Streamwood, IL; eleven grandchildren, Eric (Michele) Bostwick, Kim (Stephen) Boyd, Shannon (Jack) Fritz, Jason (Corie) Wendzel, Justin (Kelly) Wendzel, Jared (Ashleigh) Wendzel, Jacob and Joshua Bostwick and Nicholas, Peter and Rachel Bostwick; 15 great grandchildren; and his brother-in-law, Kent Wray of Gobles, MI, along with children, Lois, Steven, Ruth, Mary and Beth.
