Minnie Rivera, age 86, of Bay City, Texas walked into Heaven peacefully on September 12, 2023, surrounded by her loving daughters. While she will be missed, her family rejoices that she is at peace reunited with the Lord and her loving husband Faustino Rivera, for whom she missed dearly. Minnie was born as Sophia Ermenia Sul in New Gulf, Texas to Paula and Polita Sul on June 12, 1937.

At a young age, Minnie became known for her love for fashion, elegance, and her petiteness earning her the nickname Minnie, after a mini pearl.

She met the love of her life, Faustino Rivera marrying at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Bay City, TX on September 13, 1959. During their time together, they were blessed with their two beautiful girls, Dora Linda and Sonia Cecila.

Minnie was a life-long resident of Bay City, TX. She proudly retired from the Matagorda County Court House as a County Tax Assessor after 25 years of service. She then devoted her time to her family and loving husband. She had a love for morning talks with her beloved husband at McDonald's, traveling, casinos, shopping sprees, and her Catholic faith. She was also involved in many community organizations such singing in the Our Lady of Guadalupe Church Choir, Saint Vincent de Paul, The Red Hat Ladies, and LULAC.

Her smile, beauty, and elegance left an everlasting impression on many and she will be dearly missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Paula and Paul Sul; husband, Faustino Rivera; granddaughter, Kendal Patterson; sisters; Dorita, Beatriz and Genevieve. Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Dora Linda and Jimmy Martinez, and Sonia Cecila and Reginald Matthews; grandchildren: Adrian Martinez, Leticia (Benjamin) Barin, Shani (Miguel) Williams, and Justin Matthews; great grandchildren Iyanna Williams, Malia Williams, Jasha Williams, Charlie Martinez, Lyra Matthews, Terius Albrow, and Josiah Patterson, as well as many beloved loved ones.

A visitation with family & friends for Minnie will be held on Monday, September 18, 2023, at 9:00 AM at the Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, 1412 12th St, Bay City, TX 77414. Rosary & funeral service will immediately follow at 9:30 AM. Minnie will be carried to her final resting place by her grandchildren: Adrian Martinez, Justin Matthews, Leticia and Benjamin Barin, and Shani and Miguel Williams. Honorary Pallbearers include Iyanna Williams, Malia Williams, Jasha Williams, Charlie Martinez, Lyra Matthews, Terius Albrow, and Josiah Patterson.
