Martha Elizabeth Booth Johnston, age 65, of Todd, North Carolina died on October 8, 2021 in her beloved Ashe County cabin in Todd, NC. She was born on November 6, 1955 in Rocky Mount, NC to Louis Worrell Booth and Clarenda Mangum Booth, who passed away at age 27. Martha was raised by her father and stepmother, Tempie Griffin Booth. She will be remembered as an amazing Wife, Mom, and Nana who generously gave of her time to be with her family and to help out whenever she could. She was a devout fan of hockey, especially the Carolina Hurricanes, and was often up at the wee hours of the morning watching a game and yelling at the TV! Martha loved horses, birds, hydrangeas, and daffodils. As a talented seamstress, she made everything from luggage tags to baby bundles, and she loved to make "night-nights" (sheets) for her grandbabies. She was a volunteer for both the Ashe County Arts Council and the local food bank. She loved her grandbabies "to the moon and back"—they were the light of her life. She was smart, witty, spunky, fun, caring, loving, accepting of everyone, and extraordinarily stubborn!!! She enjoyed travel with her husband and friends, especially to Europe and going on cruises. Survivors include her husband, Darrell Johnston of the home; daughters, Alana Malechuk (Daniel) and Megan Sossamon both of Orlando, Florida; stepson, Jeremy Johnston (Katie Charpiot) of Houston, Texas; and stepdaughter, Julie Johnston of Houston, Texas; grandchildren, Elizabeth Malechuk, Katherine Malechuk, Anna Malechuk, John Paul Malechuk, Ashlynne Johnston, Victoria Johnston, and Blake Johnston; a number of aunts and cousins also survive. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Carl Booth. Memorial services will be conducted on October 16, 2021 at 11:00 AM at the Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Mike Manuel. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a memorial donation in Martha's honor to Medi Home Health & Hospice PO BOX 421 Jefferson, NC 28640.
