Carolyn was a 1956 graduate of Smethport High School. She attended nurses training at Millard Fillmore Hospital School of Nursing. She joined the U.S. Army in 1960 as a sergeant, later appointed second lieutenant and first lieutenant.
She completed her bachelor's degree as a registered nurse at Pacific Lutheran University. Upon graduating she was promoted to major. She worked as an operating room nurse and served six years and nine months of foreign service during Vietnam, and was promoted to lieutenant colonel prior to her retirement in 1981. After her military career she worked as a school nurse at St. Andrew's Sewanee High School. She retired again and returned to the Eldred area in 2015.
Carolyn enjoyed birdwatching and her beloved dog, Gypsy.
Surviving is one sister, Rozann Cody of Kingston, N.Y.; two brothers, Keith D. "Duey" Marsh Jr. of Eldred and Thomas H. (Molly) Marsh of Bradford; and several nieces and nephews.
Services are private and at the convenience of family. Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under direction of Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes Inc.
