Clara was born to Norman Howard Beste and Ruby Jeanette McGrew-Beste in Mineral Wells, Texas on April 23rd, 1940. She attended McKinney, Texas schools grades 1-12. Clara's favorite hobby later in life was raising and showing high quality, pedigreed, show rabbits for which she earned up to 4th in the nation for her breed. She was a wonderful mentor not only to the youth but to anyone who needed advice with the breed. Clara had a knack for gardening and had an amazing green thumb. She also enjoyed embroidery, crocheting, and quilting. She was a professional wallpaper hanger for a number of years after being a stay at home mother who raised her 7 children. She was involved with their many activities and was a lifetime FFA booster member. She, along with her husband and children lived in Winningkoff, Texas for 44 years before moving to Ravenna, Texas in their retirement in 2007.
Clara was preceded in death by her husband, Buddy Murphy, her daughter, Vivian Elaine Murphy, her brothers Norman Howard, "Butch " Beste and Byron Lee Beste.
She is survived by her son, William Harmon Jr, "Little Bud", and Cori Murphy of Princeton, Texas, Mary Ann Murphy of Bonham, Texas, Donna Lynn McMahan and Bruce Daniels of Van Alstyne, Texas, Eva Denice and JC "Jake" Vaughn Jr., of Longridge, Texas, Melia Joy Moore and Steve Moore of Ravenna, Texas, Douglas Ray and Mikki Murphy of Reno Texas, her sister, Ruby Nell and brother in law Dorisey Murphy of Wylie Texas, her brother Bobby and sister in law Cheryl Beste of Princeton Texas, 18 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren with one more soon to come.
Services will be held at Wise Funeral Home in Bonham, Texas on Saturday, September 16, 2023 at 1:00pm. Family visitation night will be Friday, September 15, 2023 from 6pm to 8pm. Graveside services to follow at Wilson Chapel in Lowry Crossing, Texas.
