Sam was born May 8, 1953 in Wasco and passed away at home on June 17, 1994 from complications of an extended illness. He attended Wasco schools and graduated from Bakersfield College with an AA degree in restaurant management. He worked for Shell Oil Company for 17 years, starting as a roustabout and working his way up to a steam injector operator. He was an accomplished welder and a partner in three Subway Sandwich Shops. He loved fishing, golfing and working on his truck. He was an excellent cook and enjoyed barbecuing for the Shell Oil picnics. His home and family were especially close to his heart. He loved to go to Wasco to see family and friends, he had a heart of Gold. He was a very loving and caring husband, son, brother and uncle.
He is survived by his immediate family. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
As per Sam's wishes he will be cremated. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Sam Coggins Memorial Fund.
