Widow Former City Clerk and Treasurer
Injured in Fall

SPARTANBURG, July 22 (AP)---
Mrs. Hattie Brown Boyd, 77, member
of a prominent Spartanburg family
died today at a local hospital where
she had been a patient since suffering
a fall at her home last Saturday.
She was the widow of T. J. Boyd,
who was a Spartanburg city clerk
and treasurer for 18 years until his
death nine years ago.
A native of Columbia, Mrs. Boyd,
was the daughter of the late Marcus
Lafayette Brown and Mrs. Malvina
Fleming Brown. She spent her
girlhood in Winnsboro.
Surviving are a daughter, Miss
Hattie Boyd, society editor of the
Spartanburg Journal, and two sons,
George M. and T. J. Boyd, Jr. all
of Spartanburg.
Funeral services will be conducted
at 6 p. m., tomorrow at the grave
side at Oakwood cemetery here.
