Sally Pearl Griggs Brown passed away on September 1, 2023, at her daughter's home in Corning. She was 96 years old. Sally was born November 14, 1926, in Cardwell, MO. She lived a busy and productive life. On April 22, 1944, she married Carl W. Brown. While Carl served in the United States Navy during World War II, Sally remained in Cardwell, writing to him every day. They reunited on Valentine's Day, February 14, 1946. She supported her husband as he obtained a history degree from Ouachita Baptist University on the G.I. Bill and they began to raise a family. Once settled in Corning, they worked together and built a successful construction and rental property business. Carl and Sally were married 56 years prior to his death on November 12, 2000.

Sally took pride in maintaining family traditions, hosting Thanksgiving dinner and celebrating Christmas Eve with a house full of family. She enjoyed playing cards with her friends, laughing with her Birthday Club ladies, and playing a round of golf with her husband. Travel was another of her joys, visiting Hawaii and the Holy Land twice.

Sally was an active member of First Christian Church in Corning where she served as a Sunday School Teacher and Youth Leader. She was so close to her friends from church, she considered them family. She was a charter member of the Corning Community Hospital Auxiliary and chosen as Corning Woman of the Year. Through scholarships and gifts, Carl and Sally helped several people obtain undergraduate and advanced degrees from universities and seminary schools.

Survivors include her children Vicky (John) Cummins of Centerville, TN., Susan (Lonnie) Green and John Brown both of Corning, AR.; grandchildren Larry (Christy) Browning, Angela (Frank) Bowman, Khristina (Jeff) Prince, Vanessa (Craig) Stoddard, Charles Joshua Whitworth, Jonathan Brian Green and Mark (Sarah) Green; great grandchildren Rex, Dex, Sarah Grace, Lucy, Breanna, Britnee, Blake, Faith, Destinee, Aaron, Anthony, Allen, Jessica, Austin, Carley, Emily, Kaitlyn, Daniel, Isabella, Adaline, Jackson, Alex, Tyler, Mason, and Danny Lynn; great great grandchildren Mable, Charlie, Henry, Kaiden, Weston, Whitnee, Wynn, Hadleigh, Ryatt, Hendrix, Hayes, Forrest, Joseph, Matthew, Jace and Nolan; and many special nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents Julious Othar and Bettie Ola (Reagan) Griggs; siblings Mary, Amy, James, Homer, Charles, Telbert, Buster, J.O., and Bobby Jack; and grandson David Browning.

Visitation will be Friday, September 15, 2023, at 11:00 AM at First Christian Church in Corning. Funeral services will begin at 12 noon with Bro. Tim Burgess and Bro. Eldon Richardson officiating under the direction of Ermert Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Corning Cemetery.
