The fourth of Johann Jacob's 7 children, born 1772, Daniel married Elizabeth Long daughter of John about 1797 in the Reformed Church. They had 10 children, 6 girls and 4 boys. He was 27 and lived at on the family farm when his father died in 1799. In 1800 he is found in Elizabeth Hundred next to brother Henry. In 1810, he appears in Woodbury Township, Bedford Co, PA, after he and Henry acquired some family land there. After that, he came back to the Hagerstown area. He was essentially a farmer with some horses, cows, sheep and hogs, along with two whiskey stills, a windmill and a weaving loom. His wife survived and died in 1860 buried with him at Salem German Reformed Church in Cearfoss, MD. Children were Susanna, Elizabeth, Daniel David, Louisa, Maria (bestseller), Thomas Jefferson, Isabella (Bentz), Rosanna Caroline (BARR), Joshua, and Samuel.
