Amer Cody, 61, Prominent Fenton Resident, Passes
Fenton -- Funeral services are being held this afternoon (Thursday) for Amer Cody, 61, who died Sunday shortly after 6 p.m. at the Methodist hospital in Rochester, Minn. Mr Cody had suffered a stroke on May 11 and was taken to Rochester at that time. He had been suffering from asthma for about two years.
Services are at St. John Lutheran church at Depew with the
Rev. Oliver Johnson officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Lutheran cemetery.
Amer Cody was born May 9, 1898 in Palo Alto County, the son
of Peter and Annie Christian Cody. He attended the Cylinder
School and Waldorf College at Forest City.
February 8, 1921, he was united in marriage to Duella Finnestad at Ruthven, Iowa. Mr Cody farmed until two years ago, when his son Gerald took over the farming operation. However, Mr and Mrs Cody continued to live at the farm home.
Mr Cody is a veteran of World War I, having served in the Marines.
Mr Cody is survived by his wife, and five children: Gerald
at home, (Dorothy) Mrs Harvey Nelson of Sioux Falls, S.D.;
(Beverly) Mrs Lawrence Mueller of rural Fenton; Betty, who
teaches at Sioux Falls, S.D.; LaVonne, attending Concordia College at Moorehead, Minn.
Also surviving are six grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs
Lehan Ryan of Des Moines and Mrs Mac McLeskey of Los Angeles, Calif.
