Perry Lee Sapp Sr., 91, of Ridgeland, SC passed away Saturday, February 6, 2021. Perry was born on July 25, 1929 in Evans County, Georgia to the late Frank Sapp and Lillie Stringer Sapp.

He is survived by his wife of seventy-one (71) years, Iola Rivers Sapp. They have resided in Hardeeville, SC since 1959 where he worked as Depot Agent for the Atlantic Coastline Railroad until his retirement, a railroad man through and through. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Hardeeville and served several terms as a deacon and as choir director for more than a decade. The joys of his life were his wife, singing and serving in his church, hunting, fishing, playing ball with his sons and his grandchildren and having the entire family at his home for holidays.

Left to cherish his memory, in addition to his wife, are his sons Perry L. (Ginger) Sapp Jr and Jeffery M. (Joyce) Sapp Sr; grandchildren Perry L. (Whitney) Sapp III, Trish (Jared) Bryan, Lindsey (Scott) Howerton, Tori (Marty) Bowers and Jeffery (Liz) Sapp Jr.; great-grandchildren: Madeline, Sean, David and Charli Sapp; Laynee, Ellie and Ivy Bryan; Lilly, Isaac and Maximus Howerton; Keleigh and Mackie Bowers; and Savannah and Jayden Kelley; brother, James Sapp; sister, Lillian McDonald; and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sisters Frankie Sapp Richardson and Alice Sapp Nease.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, February 11, 2021 at First Baptist Church of Hardeeville, 13 East Main St., Hardeeville, SC. The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 am until the hour of the service at the church.

Everyone attending the service is asked to practice CDC recommendations for social distancing and face coverings.
