She was born March 22, 1920, in Villa Grove, IL. Fern was a Villa Grove High School graduate. She had worked as a travel agent with McDowell Travel Agency in Findlay, OH. Fern was a member of LaPorte United Methodist Church, Midview Women's Club, and a former member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Findlay.
She is survived by four daughters; Barbara Shuster (Randy) of Elyria, Cathy Savalli (Larry) of Lansing, MI., Lisa Adler Brinkman (Bob) of Bethesda, MD., and Amy Adler of Toledo, OH. Additional survivors include six grandchildren; Chief Christopher Shuster (Sherry) of Milton, FL., Heidi Anderson (Bob) of Elyria, OH., Laura Savalli (Don Combee) of Boulder, CO., Sara Savalli of Lansing, MI., Lisa Savalli of Columbia, SC., Morgan Parr of Reston, VA., eleven great-grandchildren; Alex Shuster, Zak, Claire & Hunter Anderson, Jonathan Savalli, Ashley, Jacob & Abby Healey, Eli Burnett, Marshall & Jenna Marler. Fern was preceded in death by husbands; E. Eugene Willett, and C. Revere Adler, her parents; George and Eliza (nee: Jones) Smith, two sisters; Drucilla Braden, Marie Hauter, three brothers; George, Ralph & Jesse Smith.
The family will receive friends 6-8 PM on Sunday, January 29, 2012, at LaPorte United Methodist Church 2071 Grafton, Rd. Elyria, OH 44035 where a Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, January 30, 2012. Rev. Jonathan A. McCleery will officiate. A Memorial Service will also be held on Tuesday, January 31, 2012, at 11:00 AM in St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church 1701 Tiffin Ave. Findlay, OH. Rev. Frederich Dittmar will officiate. Burial will be at Maple Grove Cemetery in Findlay, OH. Memorial contributions in Fern's memory can be sent to LaPorte United Methodist Church.
