Bertrece B. Butcher, 85, passed away on Wednesday, August 30, 2023, at Wesleyan Health Care Center. Bertrece was born on August 27, 1938, to the late David Wilds and Dorothy Griffin.
She attended high school in Greenville, Tennessee and worked in production at SCM. The day before her passing, on August 29, she was able to celebrate her 36 year wedding anniversary with Lewis "Ed" Butcher, Jr. She was a proud member of Sunnycrest Baptist Church, where she was active in building the church. Bertrece enjoyed working in her flower gardens and camping, especially at Jellystone Campground. She loved family gatherings and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Bertrece is survived by her husband, Ed, Gas City; children, Larry (Camille) Holt, Marion, Kenny (Tina) Holt, Russiaville, Judy Holt, Russiaville, and Todd (Sarah) Holt, Marion; step-children, Jennifer (Chris) Goodwin, Marion, Michael (Kemie) Butcher, Jonesboro, Kenny (Teresa) Butcher, Marion, and Debbie Butcher-Ross, Marion; brother, Landon (Marlene) Wilds, Greenville, TN; sister-in-law, Vivian Wilds, Jonesboro; and bunches and bunches of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, David and Dorothy; first husband, Dana Holt; sisters, Gladys (Billie) Linebarger, Reba (Billie) Jones, and Bernice Shields; brothers, Jake Wilds, D.C. Wilds, and Faine Wilds; and step-son, Charles "Charlie" Lewis Butcher.
A funeral service was held on Wednesday, September 6, 2023, at Sunnycrest Baptist Church, 2172 West Chapel Pike, Marion, Indiana, with Pastor Troy Bishop officiating. Entombment was made at Gardens of Memory in Huntington County, Indiana.
Arrangements for Bertrece have been entrusted to the College Park Chapel of Armes-Hunt Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 4601 South Western Avenue, Marion, Indiana.
