Robert Lee Boren, age 79, of Cadiz, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, August 31, 2023, at his daughter's home in Cadiz.
He was born September 26, 1943, in Linton, Trigg County, Kentucky. Robert retired from Phelps Dodge in Hopkinsville with 25 years of dedicated service. After the closing of Phelps Dodge, he took up over-the-road truck driving, teamed with his brother, Herbert Lee. When he wasn't working, Robert was often found in his garage where he loved to build and tinker with machines. He was most proud of his work restoring his 1956 Ford Victoria from start to finish. He also enjoyed riding 4-wheelers and spending time as "Papaw" with his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Beulah Wallace and Ortha Fox; and sister-in-law, Patricia Boren.
He is survived by two daughters, Tina (Mark) Boren Lane of Cadiz and Roberta "Bobbi" (Shane) Boren Gee of Hopkinsville, KY; three grandchildren, Madison (Jeremy) Alexander, Austin (Sanjay) Norrid, and Isabella Norrid; a great-grandson, Julian Lane Alexander; brother, Herbert Lee Boren of Murray, KY; and sisters, Martha Hinton of Cadiz and Dorothy Russell of Dover, TN.
Arrangements are being handled by Goodwin Funeral Home, Inc., 138 Main Street in Cadiz, where the family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m on Sunday, September 3, 2023. Graveside services will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Matheny Cemetery in Land Between the Lakes, with Rev. Tim Morgan officiating.
