Joseph C. "Joe" McCarty, 86, of Marysville, passed away peacefully early Monday morning, August 28, 2023, at Monarch Nursing & Rehab with his loving family by his side.

The youngest, and last surviving of 13 children, Joe was born January 1, 1937, in Oreton to the late Peter B. and Dessel (Molihan) McCarty. After graduating from high school, he met his soul mate and best friend, Loretta J. Napper. They married August 14, 1957, and just celebrated their 66th anniversary.

Joe worked for and retired from Ranco in Plain City where he held numerous positions through the years. After retirement, he spent countless hours finding lawn mowers in need of repair, and would fix and resell them. A former member of both the Marysville Eagles Lodge 3506 and the Marysville Moose Lodge 1651, Joe also spent many years golfing at Blues Creek and bowling at the Marysville Bowling Ally.

Kind hearted and fun loving, Joe was gentle but also quite the jokester. He made friends easily wherever he went, and he and Loretta traveled extensively during their retirement, out west being their favorite destination. Coming from a large family, and having a large family of his own, Joe was first and foremost a loving and dedicated family man. Nothing meant more to him than being a devoted husband, dad, grandpa and great grandpa, and his generous and loving nature will forever hold a lasting impact on his family.

Joe is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Loretta; their children Ricky McCarty of Richwood, James (Debbie) McCarty of Marysville, and Patricia Michael of Colorado Springs, Colorado; daughter-in-law Lee-Ella R. McCarty; 12 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and many extended family members, nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends.

Along with his parents, Joe was preceded in death by sons Dennis and Roger McCarty, and all his siblings.

Funeral services to celebrate Joe's life will be held 1 pm Friday at the Ingram Funeral Home, 975 N. Maple St., Marysville, with Rev. Denver McCarty officiating. Burial will follow at York Center Cemetery. Friends may call 1 hour prior to service time beginning at 12 noon.

Ingram Funeral Home is honored to serve Joe's family, and condolences may be expressed to them at www.IngramFuneralService.com.
