Sollie was a large man of about 230 lbs. The FRANKLIN homestead is located off Bob Daniel Road in Berea, Granville Co., North Carolina.

Sollie's was a brakeman for the North Carolina Railroad Company (NCRR) and worked out of the depot once located in the town of Hillsborough, Orange Co., North Carolina. His death was accidental when his chest was crushed by a railroad locomotive engine.

Sollie is buried in the cemetary of Little River Presbyterian Church, Hurdle Mills, North Carolina.
