Deborah Jean Anastas was the second child born to Kenneth Lavon Anastas and Jessie Dean Wyatt. She was born and grew up in the Fort Worth, Texas area, a beautiful child with olive complexion, dark eyes, a cheerful disposition, a contagious sense of joy and humor, and an outgoing, bubbly personality. She was the middle child between an older sister, Kimberly, and a younger brother, Kenny.

When she was a teenager and the family was living in Burleson, Texas, Debbie was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes, which caused upheaval in her young life. As the disease progressed, it affected her vision and required cauterization of bleeding blood vessels; however, she had already lost so much eyesight that she was declared legally blind. Over the years she learned how serious it was to be proactive in managing this chronic illness.

Being unable to drive, she chose carefully where to buy her own home in her adult years and ended up in Plano, Texas, just a short distance away from a DART commuter train station which could provide transportation to and from her job. Debbie established a good career with the IRS in downtown Dallas and used the trains to commute.

In March 2023 Debbie had an accident at home in which she was hit on the head by a mirror which fell off the wall. A trip to the emergency room led to a CT scan. Although she had a concussion, it was not serious, but the doctor there expressed concern about that "mass in your brain", which was the beginning of Debbie's knowledge that she had a glioblastoma -- a malignant brain tumor. Surgery followed, then chemo and radiation which required her to be with someone who could provide care. Debbie moved into her sister's home in Weatherford, Texas where her doctors arranged for a local clinic to administer the treatments. Kim and her daughter, Rachel, partnered together to take care of Debbie when she needed it. As the treatments progressed, Debbie began to regress. Hospice care was arranged in mid-August 2023, and she died on August 28, 2023.

Debbie was a Christian and a gifted singer. She was a member of Hope Community Church in Plano, where her life was enriched and she developed many close friendships. She was a member of the church's "praise team" of musicians.

Debbie was single at the time of her death. She was preceded in death by both parents -- Kenneth Lavon Anastas, Sr., and Jessie Dean (Wyatt) Innmon. She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Ron and Kimberly (Anastas) Thibodeau; Kim's twins, Rachel Combs and Reece Combs and Reece's wife, Alyssa. She is also survived by her brother, Kenneth Lavon Anastas, Jr., and his wife, Kelli; their twin daughters, Presley and Peyton; and their son, Pace. Also surviving her are several maternal and paternal aunts and uncles and many loving cousins.
