CHARLES L. (sic) HOOVLER

MERCER - Service and burial will be held Friday for Charles H. Hoovler of Mercer County Home and Hospital, formerly of Jefferson Twp., Mercer RD 1, who died there at 9:05 a.m. Wednesday after a short illness. He was 92.

Mr. Hoovler was born July 17, 1880 (sic), to Mr. and Mrs. John Hoovler. He had lived in the county home and hospital eight years. He was a retired farmer.

He married the former Ada (sic) Rockwell in 1912. She died in 1914.

Surviving are a son, Charles L. of Mercer and a sister, Mrs. Mary Swogger of Cochranton RD 2.

Three brothers and three sisters preceded him in death.

*Handwritten on the obituary is the notation "Delaware Grove" for the cemetery name. The only cemetery found in Delaware Grove is St. John's which is an older cemetery behind the church across the road from this cemetery.

*His second spouse, Lucetta Hougher, is buried in Delaware and it seems likely that he is buried near her. Unfortunately, neither one of them has a headstone.

*Birth year varies; 1900 census indicates he was 17 years old making his birth year ~1883. This would mean that he was younger than his sister, Geneva.
