James died while living in Newton, KS near his daughter Gladys Bean's family.

Retired Farmer and Stockman dies at 82
Newton, Kan. , July 9 – J.M. Allen, aged 82, former Wichitan and a retired farmer and stockman, died early Sunday morning at the Bethel Deaconess hospital here. Mr. Allen, who moved to Newton March 29, from Wichita, was born March 2,1868, in Overton county, Tenn. For many years he was a farmer and stockman near Amorita, Okla. He was a member of the West Douglas Church of Christ in Wichita. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Samantha Jane Allen; daughters, Mrs. Delila Slaska, Minneapolis, Minn., and Mrs. M. R. Bean, Newton; sons, Orville Allen, Byron, Okla; John A. Allen, Wellington, Kan; Claude H. Allen, Hooker, Okla; and Orlando J. Allen, Portland, Ore.; and sisters, Mrs. Hanna Holden, Wichita; and Mrs. Nancy Hukills and Mrs. Josie Ford, both of Cherokee, Okla. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the West Douglas Church of Christ in Wichita, by Ministers Roy Merrit and Louis Tandy. Graveside services will be held in the Byron-Amorita, Okla. Cemetery, by Rev. Hartsell Johnson. Moody's funeral home is in charge.
