Margaret Joan Fievet, 83, passed away quietly on Monday, August 21, 2023.

Joan was born on July 12, 1940 in Birmingham, Alabama. Her father taught her from an early age to love football, particularly Auburn football, in order to "find the right type of man." Her childhood friend, Florence, introduced her brother to Joan, the man who would become Joan's only love, Lucien (unfortunately, a University of Alabama man). Despite their gridiron differences, they spent life together, moving from Birmingham to Atlanta to Lake Charles to Pittsburgh and finally to Fredericksburg, Virginia. While in Pittsburgh, in addition to raising four children, Joan was also the Religious Education secretary for St. Louise de Marillac parish.

Joan's eyes lit up whenever a grandchild entered the room. She adored each and every one with a love that was boundless and infinite. Each one will tell you that they were her favorite because her smile and adoration made them feel that way.

As long as she was able, she adored participating in the Women's Guild of every church where she belonged. In her later years, she enjoyed playing cards with her Salem Fields friends and socializing during Thirsty Thursday get-togethers.

Joan brought a smile to everyone's face with her sense of humor and philosophy on life, which she would gladly tell you whether you asked or not. Especially when it came to the Steelers deciding to punt on fourth down with two yards to go. She would tell you that she would be a better coach than whoever was calling plays, and it was probably true.

She is survived by her siblings, Lynn Morrison, Kay Heldman, Earl Morrison (Cathy) and Sharon Gray (Steve); children Lucien C. "Chuck" Fievet III (Lynn) of Pittsburgh, PA, Michael E. Fievet (Sarah) of Richmond, VA, Katherine Cavanaugh (Ronald) of Fredericksburg, VA, and James Fievet (Christina) of Fredericksburg, VA; and 10 grandchildren, each affectionately referred to as "Sweet Pea."

Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Lucien, with whom she spent 60 blissful years in loving marriage.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, August 25, 2023 at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg. A recitation of the Rosary will begin at 6:30 p.m. A funeral Mass will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, August 26 at St. Jude Catholic Church. Interment will be private on Monday, August 28 in Quantico National Cemetery.
