Mrs. Mary Hummel, formerly of Fowler, Route 1, who died Saturday morning at 5:45 in St. Joseph hospital here, was born May 23, 1871, in Paloma. She lived in that community all her life until 1950, when she entered the hospital.
A daughter of Albert and Elizabeth (Hertmeier) Wiewel, she was married to Londelin Hummel in St. Joseph church, 1897. Mr. Hummel died May 18, 1949. Mrs. Hummel attended St. Joseph church until entering the hospital. She was a member of St. Joseph Altar Society.
A daughter, Olivia, died in 1916, and a sister, Mrs. Christine Fessler, died February 2 this year. She also was preceded in death by a grandson in infancy, and four brothers.
