Thomas Benton McClard was born 3 Aug 1838 in Cape Girardeau Co., MO. Thomas was orphaned at an early age when his parents died of cholera. He married Celia Catherine Hill Abt 1856 in Stoddard Co., MO. He served in the war with a volunteer group called "The Six Months Cavalry" and the Missouri State Guards. Thomas was crippled it is thought durring the civil war, and was bedfast the last 15 years of his life from a stroke. He died at the home of his daughter, Mary Ann (Mollie) Temples. He died 30 Sep 1931 in Dexter, Stoddard Co., MO. He was buried in Hill Cemetery in Bloomfield, Stoddard Co., MO.
