Maria de Jesus Llano was called home by the Lord on December 1, 2009, at the age of 88.
She was born on July 28, 1921, in San Antonio, Texas. She was a very gifted and multi-talented woman. She was able to overcome much diversity in her life to educate herself. Her first job was working in a pecan factory, but set her goals to further her education. One of her greatesrt accomplishments was to graduate from the first L.V.N. program in San Antonio. She then went on to become a beautician. She was an advocate for education and voting. She was proud to be an American and was an asset to her family and community.
She is preceded in death in by her husband, Jesus Llano; and son, Nicolas Pedro Reyes.
She is loved and will be missed by her son and wife; daughter and husband; 5 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 5 great great-grandchildren; and many loving nieces, nephews and friends. Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. until 9 p.m. at Castillo Mission Funeral Homeon Sunday, December 6, 2009, with a Rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. The funeral procession will depart the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, December 7, 2009, for a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 314 Merida Street. Interment will follow at San Fernando Archdiocesan Cemetery II.
