AW was born March 14, 1941, in Horry County. He was the son of the late Lonnie Thomas Barnhill and the late Ruth Turner Barnhill. AW grew up in Marion County, where he was a farmer for many years, He later retired from AVM of Mullins after 21 years as a Press Operator in the Press Department. He was also co-owner of Barnhill's Bar and Grill in Mullins, SC, and a licensed Auctioneer, where he graduated from the Mendenhall School of Auctioneering.
Some of AW's favorite hobbies included fishing, riding his horses, and long leisurely rides on his Harley-Davidson, and spending time with his fur babies, Buddy and Jake.
AW is survived by his son, Walter "Tootie" Nobles and his wife, Irene of Marion, SC, and 2 grandchildren, Lane Nobles and Maya Nobles; his brother, JK Barnhill of Charlotte, NC and his 4 sisters: Pauline B. Cooke (Jerry Gibson) of Mullins, SC, Hazel B. Jackson (Henry) of Dillon, SC, Eloise B. Stevens of Mullins, SC and Ernestine B. Jones of Marion, SC; and many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.
AW was predeceased in death by his daughter, Brenda Barnhill Herndon, and 2 brothers, Fred Barnhill, and Johnny Thomas Barnhill.
