JOSEPH DELANEY BURIED HERE
Former Knox County Man Died in California Last Week.

Joseph Delaney of Kansas City, a native of Knox County, who had been at El Centro, Calif. the last few months for his health, died there Wednesday of last week. He had been in failing health the last year, being a sufferer of asthma. He was past 50 years old.
The body was brought to the Kelly Funeral Home in Edina, arriving early Sunday morning, twenty-six hours later than the expected and usual train time, due to excessive rain and storms in the mountains slowing the train's speed.
Funeral services were conducted at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon at St. Joseph Church by the Rev. Terence Mullins, pastor. Burial was in the Delaney family lot in the new Catholic cemetery beside the graves of Mr. Delaney's father and mother who died Feb. 26, 1937, and Dec. 30, 1914, respectively.
Surviving are the widow and a daughter, Mrs. Margaret Parcell and a grandchild, all of Kansas City, and two brothers and a sister, Gus and Vess Delaney of St. Louis and Mrs. R. E. Oldfather of Wentzville, Mo.
Joe Delaney, as he was generally called, the youngest child of William and Catherine Worley Delaney, was bom on a farm south of Hurdland, where he grew to manhood. When quite young he married Miss Lucy Hunter of Hurdland and they went twenty-six years ago to Kansas City, which has since been their home and where Mr. Delaney was engaged in the automobile business.
Coming for the funeral besides the widow and the daughter and granddaughter were Earl Hunter of Kansas City, a brother of Mrs, Delaney; Gus and Vess Delaney and Mr. and Mrs. Oldfather, all of whom were guests at the home of Mrs. Gus Delaney and her sister. Mrs. J. W. Hayes, here during their stay in Edina.
