John Michael "Mike" Redd was born in Chihuahua Mexico on March 5, 1943, and passed away in Mission Viejo, California on August 13, 2023.
Mike had a long and successful career in newspapers and advertising that began at the young age of 10 when he started delivering newspapers on his bicycle throughout his neighborhood. His career spanned over 45 years starting at the El Paso Times and continuing to the San Jose Mercury News, The San Diego Union-Tribune, Western Colorprint - Sunday comics printers, and finally The Orange County Register where he retired at age 65.
Mike's favorite hobbies were bicycling, reading Stephen King novels, and cooking steaks on the barbeque. He had a deep love for his family and friends.
Mike is survived by his wife Jaye Redd; his five children Steven Redd, Dean Redd, Megan Hill, Christopher Redd, and Jennifer Boyle; two stepdaughters Mandi Peck and Erica Bradley; his grandchildren Jaci, Brenna, Gabrielle, Jackson, Kasen (Steven), Kendyl, Whitney, Jake, Addy (Dean), Jet, Tyce, Madelynn (Megan), Lillian, Gracie, Samantha, MaLinda (Christopher), Taylor Carly, Spencer, London, Sophie (Jennifer), Jeremy, Cody (Mandi); and his great grandchildren Ember, Deckim, Penelope (Steven), Brixton (Megan). He is preceded in death by his grandson Jackson (Megan).
A viewing will be held at Serenity Funeral Home Monday, August 21 at 9:00 am and a graveside service will be held at 10:00 am at Tonaquint Cemetery.
