ABERDEEN - Marvin Louis Burroughs, 84, died Thursday, June 8, 2006, at the Garden Suites Assisted Living in Aberdeen. He was born Nov. 8, 1921, to Lee Burroughs and Arey Tartt Burroughs Foote in Monroe County. He was a life long resident of Monroe County where he graduated from Bigbee School. He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church. He received three Bronze Stars while serving in the U.S. Army in World War II. He was a retired real estate agent and farmer.


Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Tisdale-Lann Memorial Chapel with Dr. George Forbes officiating. Entombment will be at Oddfellows Rest Cemetery.


Survivors include one son, Louis Burroughs and wife, Karen, of Aberdeen; one brother, Hal Burroughs of Aberdeen; three half-brothers, Alvie Foote of Aberdeen, and Jack Foote and Floyd Foote, both of Lepanto, Ark.; two grandchildren, Bradley Burroughs and Britton Burroughs; two stepgrandchildren, Kristie Summerford and Chase Summerford.


He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Frances Louise Tate Burroughs; one son, David Lee Burroughs; and two brothers, Vance "Buddy" Burroughs and Landon Burroughs.


Pallbearers will be Eddie White, Charles White, Robbie Miller, Phil Barker, Steve English and Terry Cox. Honorary pallbearer will be Andy Allen.
