Shirley Ann Griego was welcomed to the world on August 2, 1967 to Theresa and Adam Griego in Las Vegas, New Mexico.
Shirley left the earth on August 10, 2023.
Anyone who knew Shirley, knew she was a force to be reckoned with. Adventurous, brave, courageous and of course, loca, were a few of many words to describe her. Shirley was a loving grandmother, mother, daughter, sister, niece, cousin, auntie and friend.
In her youth she loved to travel, weightlift and race her many muscle cars and trucks. Shirley had an energy that could light up rooms with a smile as radiant as her personality. Shirley was truly beyond beautiful inside and out. Her strength and perseverance were like no other.
Shirley graduated West Las Vegas High in 1985 as a Presidential & Viles Foundation Scholar. Shirley then went to Highlands University to get her B.S. in Social Work. Shirley worked several years at CBS & NMBHI, but found that she loved to tutor and mentor students at Luna Community College as well. Shirley aspired to be a computer engineer or get her CDL and become a professional driver, but she found a home in doing what she loved. Shirley lived for her family and friends, daughter and grandbabies. There was never a dull moment, she was as bold as her lipstick.
Shirley was preceded in death by her father, Adam Griego, grandparents, Willie and Adelia Flores, Manuel Griego, uncles, Jerry Flores, Willie Flores Jr. (Mary), Manuel Flores, and Tony López, cousins, Hope Flores, Joshua Aragón and Marvin Dimas and best friends, Gail Martínez and Angela Archuleta.
Shirley is survived by her mother, Theresa F. Griego, brother, Christopher Griego, daughter, Isis Griego (Christopher Ladd), grandchildren, Zuko and Azulita Ladd, nieces, Krysta Griego (Steve López) and Angelica Griego, great-nieces, Zaiyra and Ivy Abeyta, God children, AJ López (Katie), Krysta Griego (Steve) and Jamie Sandoval, grandmother, Gregorita Griego, uncle, Cruz Flores (Antonia), Godparents Frances and Raymond Trujillo, aunties, Eleanor López, Pauline Salas, Ernestine Aragón, Rose Morales (Richard), Angie Montoya and numerous close cousins and friends.
