After finishing high school in LaFarage, she attended the county normal in Richland Center, completing the course with the class of 1917. She taught four years in the schools of Richland County.
She married Leslie Lawton on Apr. 27, 1921 in Richland Center. Since that time they have resided continuously in Richland Center. This union was blessed with three children, Donald Vern, Beth May and Wilfred Allen.
Soon after her marriage she united with the Methodist Episcopal Church of Richland Center, of which she was one of its most loyal and Christ-like members to the end of her life.
The funeral services were held in the First Methodist Church on Saturday afternoon, with the Rev. Austin N. Chapman officiating and interment was made in the Sextonville Cemetery.
She leaves to mourn her passing her husband and three children, her father and mother, five brothers, Lester B., James J., Buford P., Alva J., all of Viola, and Earl E. of LaFarge; two sisters, Mrs. Gladys Miller of LaFarge and Mabel of Viola, besides many other relatives and a host of loyal friends. She was a true friend, a devoted wife, a loving mother and a consecrated Christian.
