Funeral services for Edith England, 86, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at College Heights Baptist Church with the Rev. Don Robertson, pastor, officiating.

Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park by Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview.

Mrs. England died Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2006, at her residence.

She was born March 5, 1920, in Afton to Samuel Monroe and Beulah May Baxter.

She grew up in Afton in Dickens County and graduated from Patton Springs High School. She attended Wayland Baptist College and West Texas State.

She married Wilburn England on Oct. 12, 1940, in Plainview.

She taught school for one year before working with her husband. They owned and operated England's Wholesale in Plainview for many years.

She was a member of College Heights Baptist Church since the 1940s and taught Sunday school for many years.

Survivors include her husband; one daughter and son-in-law, Marsha and Bob Ashton of League City; one son and daughter-in-law, Nelson and Catherine England of Austin; one brother, Dee Baxter of Derby, Kan.; one sister, Nora Barnett of Portland; three grandchildren, Mark Ashton, Sarah England Sampson and Lezli Gustafson; and five great-grandchildren.

Her parents; four brothers, Paul Baxter, Johnie Baxter, Leo Baxter and Sidney Baxter; and five sisters, Anna Rodriguez, Lizzie Lou Bridge, Della Jackson, Doris Gaither and Lena Baxter are all deceased.
