One teen killed, another injured in vehicle accident
Tuesday, October 5, 2004
KELLY RIMEL
A one-vehicle accident claimed the life of one Dyer County teen-ager yesterday and injured another.
Lauren A. Bane, a 15-year-old student at Dyersburg High School, was killed when the vehicle she was driving, a 2002 Ford F150 pickup truck, left the road. Bane had been driving on Highway 182 near Finley in Dyer County with her friend, a 16-year-old female, when she lost control of the truck coming out of a curve.
"Vehicle number one was driving too fast when it lost control and it rolled about four times," the accident report filed by Tennessee Highway Patrol trooper Frank McLin stated.
"Loss of control" and "inexperience" are cited as causes for the accident. Neither the driver nor the passenger was wearing her seatbelt.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol received a call about the accident at 11:57 a.m.
Bane was pronounced dead on arrival at the accident scene, and the other teen was transported to Dyersburg Regional Hospital where she was treated and discharged.
