Mr. Alderson was a veteran of the Army, Navy, and the Army Air Corps. He was the owner of Alderson & Son Trucking.
He is survived by his wife, Bea, whom he married May 22, 1948, in Washington, D.C.; children, Danny Alderson of Warren, Larry (Linda) Alderson of Holy Ridge, N.C., Theresa (Kevin) Shea of North Branch, Cheryl (Daniel) Krajenke of Shelby Township, and Terry (Carrie) Alderson of Center Line; and brother, Jessie (Joy) Alderson of Port Huron; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a son, James E. Alderson Jr.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Edward Swanson & Son Funeral Home, Madison Heights, with Pastor Harvey Cavender of Friendship Baptist Church in Sterling Heights officiating. Burial will be in White Chapel Cemetery, Troy.
Visitation is 3-9 p.m. Monday.
