Delbert "Buck" Sherdan Huffman, Sr.

Delbert "Buck" Sherdan Huffman, Sr., 90 of Fellowsville, passed away on Thursday, August 10, 2023 at his residence with family by his side. He was born in Erwin, on March 28, 1933, son of the late Charles Frank and Lettia Arletta Huffman. Buck graduated from Fellowsville High School, Class of 1951. Buck was a US Army Veteran of the Korean War, Conflict Era, Vietnam Era and Peacetime. He served two tours in Vietnam from August 1965-1966 and from January 1970-1971. He was decorated with the followings medals: National Defense Service Medal (1st OLC); Good Conduct Medal (1st-6th Awards); Vietnam Service Medal, Republic Campaign Medal; Presidential Unit Citation, Meritorious Unit Commendation; Bronze Star Medal, Air Medal; Army Commendation Medal, Meritorious Service Medal; Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm; Expert Badge W/M14 Rifle Bar; Silver Service was awarded in view of five Bronze Service Stars. Buck was a lifetime member of Kingwood VFW #826 and a Post Commander, American Legion, and the DAV. He worked construction and later owned and operated Cliff Rock with his late wife, Jackie for thirty-nine years. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting, camping and working in the hayfield. Buck loved spending time with his family and friends. Buck is survived by five children, Robert Lee Huffman, Stormy Marie Coplin and husband Jeffrey, Sherry Lynn Davis and Ronald "Monk"; Frank Owens and Charity, Tam Mai (Kenny) and Tina Cao; sixteen grandchildren, Randal Mark Fullmer Jr and Marcia, Jackie D Fullmer, Destiny Layfield and Ky, Emma Huffman, Sydney Bagby, Windy Miller and Jason, Tiffany Zerbonia, Stephanie, Melissa, Linda Mai and Khuong Duong, Amber Duong, Anlyni Mai, Allie Mai, Elliot Soffos, Branden Owens, Daniel Owens; several great and great great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, Buck was preceded in death by his wife, Jacquine "Jackie" Francis Huffman in 2022, one son, Delbert S Huffman, Jr.; five sisters, Mary Bolyard, Florence Shaffer, Betty Bell, Josephine Lantz, and Dora Grace Wolfe; three brothers, Dan Huffman, Lewis Huffman and Frank Huffman. Family and friends will be received at Bolyard Funeral Home, 79 Morgantown Ave. Newburg, WV, Sunday, August 13, 2023 from 2:00-6:00 PM, and on Monday, August 14, 2023 from 9:00 AM until time of service at 10:00 AM with Pastor Dave Biggins officiating. Interment will follow at Mt Zion Cemetery with military honors accorded by the Preston County Honor Guard and the US Army Honor Guard.
