The former Evelyn Edith Ellefson was born on February 9, 19412 in Richland Center, WI, the daughter of the late Oscar and Ida M. Johnson Ellefson. In August of 1981, Evelyn was united in marriage to Gerald L. Monroe. He preceded her in death on March 5, 2006. Evelyn has lived in Pell Lake for over 40 years.
Evelyn formerly worked as a bartender for the Four Reasons Bar in Pell Lake. She was one of the founders of the Mud Hens in Pell Lake. She enjoyed volunteering where ever she was needed. She enjoyed going the stock car races, gardening, fishing and hunting. Her greatest love was her grandchildren.
Evelyn is survived by 2 sons and 1 daughter, 8 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren, 1 sister and 2 brothers.
She was preceded in death by 1 sister and 2 great grandsons.
A gathering of friends will be held Sunday, August 28, 2016 from 10:00AM until??? At the Veteran's Park in Genoa City. There will be a luncheon at 12:00PM and open house following with memories and story telling. Memorial remembrances may be made to St. Joseph's Indian School, Box 100, Chamberlin, SD 537375-0100. The Haase-Lockwood & Assoc. Funeral Home and Crematory of Genoa City is serving the Monroe Family.
