Services for Betty M. Simmons, 78, Carbondale, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Carbondale Church of Christian Fellowship. Inurnment will be in Park Center Cemetery in Elgin, Neb.

Ms. Simmons died Thursday, June 30, 2005, in Topeka.

She was born May 3, 1927, in Elgin, the daughter of Reuben and Anna Reinke Bergman. She graduated from Elgin High School in 1945.

Ms. Simmons worked for the Base Exchange at Forbes Air Force Base for 11 years. She then worked at K-Mart West for 19 years and retired in 1992. She was a member of Carbondale Church of Christian Fellowship and was active in Women's Fellowship. She was also a member of Osage County Historical Society.

Survivors include two sons, Ronald Simmons, Topeka, and Ernest Simmons, Olpe; two daughters, Pamela Brennan, Silver Lake, and Debra Powell, Lecompton; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
