Funeral services for John Ellis Durham, 81, of Pollok will be held Thursday, June 22, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Vic Bass officiating. Graveside services with military honors will follow in the Pollok Cemetery.
Mr. Durham was born February 16, 1942 in Pollok, Texas to the late Eunie (McAdams) and Timothy Durham, and died Tuesday, June 13, 2023 in Houston.
John was a lifelong resident of Angelina County and proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was an Electrician for IBEW L.U. 479 for more than 50 years. John was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his companion, Geneva Redd of Pollok; son, Ronnie Durham and wife Hope of Pollok; grandchildren, Kelby Durham, Summer Durham; sisters-in-law, Betty Stewart and husband Bill, Evelyn Durham; and numerous other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary Ann (Moore) Durham; brothers, Tim Durham, Wade Durham, Phillip Durham; sisters, Bonnie Hill, Miriam Greenville, Zelda Saxton; mother-in-law, Ann Deggs Stanford; and numerous aunts, uncles and extended family.
Pallbearers will be David McLeod, Coy Ditsworth, David Gibson, Steve Frazier, Jerry Carr, and Tony Ferro.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
