Son of Dock and Mattie Mann Kent. He married Harolyn Rentz in 1962. He and his family moved to Sebring, FL in the early 1970s. There he established Kent Tile Co. and served the community for decades. He and Harolyn returned home to Surrency in the late 1990s where he lived out the remainder of his life. He was a member of the Memorial Freewill Baptist Church in Surrency. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Hazel Griffis, Wanda Powell, and Hilda McCall. He leaves his wife, Harolyn Kent; daughter, Robin Denise (Bobby) Helms; grandchildren, Ashley (Jarred) Eddy, Kyle (Olivia) Helms; great grandchildren, Kinslee and Carter Eddy; sisters, Helen Cody, Wilda (Alan) Holman, Judy Knight, Imadean Sapp, Erma Jean Mitchell, and brothers, J L (Mattie) Kent, Bernie (Dereta) Kent, and Dale Kent.
