When Carl was six weeks old his mother died, so he and his older brother Clyde went to live with their Aunt Clara Halle south of Thomas. Carl graduated with the class of 1936 at THS. Carl made his home in Thomas all of his life with the exception of one year in Oklahoma City and time in the military serving from 3/22/1945 until 3/10/1946 in the U. S. Navy.
On June 9, 1940 he married Ina Belle Calkins in the home of his Aunt Clara and Uncle Albert Williams. To this union were born four daughters.
Carl and Ina Belle owned and operated several businesses in Thomas, working side by side for many years, the last being Carl's IGA, retiring in 1978.
He was a volunteer firefighter for Thomas for 20 years, served on the Thomas School Board and a member of the American Legion for over 64 years.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ina Belle of 68 years, his parents, Verne and Mable Halle, his aunt and uncle, Albert and Clara Williams, his brother Clyde Halle, his grandparents, Henry and Minnie Halle.
