Sarah was the daughter of William Hinchman (1768-1851) and Mary Ann Perry (1775-1832). She came from an extremely large family in Virginia. She married Ira a. Chambers (1816-1865)** about 1836 in Logan County, Virginia. The couple had five children: Mary Ann, Martha, William, Elizabeth, and Lewis.

Sarah remarried Isaac Copeland on the 4th of June 1865 In Gallia County, Ohio. They did not have any children. Isaac passed away on the 3rd of February; Sarah passed away on the 23rd of February. She died from pneumonia.

Note: When the Gallia County Historical Society collected graves information, they did not find this grave in Copeland Cemetery. Perhaps because the individuals did not have headstones. The cemeteries were indexed between 1976 and 1983. At that time only only two headstones were found. I believe Isaac, Nancy and Sarah are all buried here for two reasons. First this cemetery was in the same township where they lived. Second, their son, Samuel . For these reasons I have added Isaac, Nancy, and Sarah to this cemetery.

Note: When Sarah was born in 1816, Cabell County was in Virginia. It did not become part of West Virginia until August 1863 when West Virginia split off from Virginia. Unfortunately, Find a Grave does not recognize this distinction.

**Location of Ira's burial site is not known.
