Greta was united in marriage to Leroy Stratton on July 20, 1946 in Hiawatha, KS. The couple celebrate 67 years of marriage last July. The couple lived in Weeping Water, NE until 1963 when the moved to McCook. The couple moved to Trenton in 1973. Greta was a beauty operator and worked along side of Leroy who was a barber.
Greta and Roy spend many weekends at the Swanson Lake. She enjoyed camping and fishing. When they moved to Trenton, Greta helped with many of the Last Indian Raid Powwow's. She was an avid reader, enjoyed her flowers and garden. Greta and Roy would travel back to Weeping Water in their Airstream camper spending a lot of time with family. Greta was also known for her cooking and especially baking pies.
Greta was preceded in death by her parents; 7 siblings: Walter, Orpha, Keneta, Gloria, Scott, Chalmer and Leonard.
She is survived by her husband: Leroy of Trenton; two sons: Leroy James and wife Ann Stratton of St. Mary's GA; Rick and wife Susan Stratton of Holman, WI; 3 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; brother: Gary Hawthorne of Oxnard, CA.
Visitation is planned for Friday, February 7, 2014 from noon till 9:00 PM and Saturday, February 8, 2014 from 9:00 AM till noon at the Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel in Trenton. No services are planned with a private family inurnment to be held in the future. Memorials may be left in Greta's name at the Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel n Trenton.
