Iva Forgie Heisler, 88, of Chattanooga, passed away peacefully Friday, August 4, 2023. Iva was born October 21, 1934 in Montvale, Virginia to Raymond and Bonnie Forgie.
Iva graduated from Baroness Erlanger Hospital School of Nursing. Iva started her career as a RN at Curry Clinic. Then from 1973 to 2005, she worked at Parkridge East Hospital where she retired as Director of Womens Services. Being a nurse wasn't just her passion, it was also her identity. She was a member of Forrest Avenue Methodist Church. Iva loved shopping and never met a stranger and never hesitated to put others needs above her own. She touched many lives with her generosity and passion for life. The family wanted to pay tribute to Iva in her words to her granddaughters with pretty is as pretty does or to her grandson, River, you know I love you more.. In the words of Florence Nightingale, I attribute my success to this, I never gave or took any excuses.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, her first and only love of 62 years, Marvin C. Heisler Jr.; daughter, Renee Heisler; parents, Raymond and Bonnie Forgie; sisters, Mary Sue Millard and Alice Monday; brothers: Bill, Ed, David and Bud Forgie.
Survivors include her son, Jeff Heisler (Angela); and sisters, Ruby Cox and Nancy Rowles; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Visitation is 3:00-8:00 pm Tuesday at Lane Funeral Home, Ashland Terrace. Funeral services are 11:00 am Wednesday in the Coulter Chapel of Lane Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
